Key responsibilities
We are looking for a talented and ambitious Materials Expert to join our team. The Materials Team at Matmatch covers a wide range of responsibilities, as we work with partners and customers across a wide variety of industries and disciplines. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in materials, chemistry or plastics. 
  • Extend and maintain the quality of our materials database at the heart of our business with respect to content and structure 
  • Support Matmatch in shaping and improving the platform strategy and product development process by adding new features in collaboration with product and engineering teams 
  • Coach and mentor team members through a positive, interactive style 
  • Assist sales teams with technical and industrial expertise at all stages of the sales process 
  • Represent Matmatch at exhibitions and conferences  
  • Screen the competitive landscape and gather market intelligence 
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry trends in materials technology as well as data science and methodology 
  • Participate in cross-functional work teams to further develop the product and establish the long-term success of the company

What we are looking for
  • You have a master's degree in materials science, process engineering, chemical engineering or related disciplines with 5+ years of relevant experience in the materials industry and at least 2 years team lead experience 
  • You have detailed knowledge in applied materials science, namely the identification and selection of materials with desired properties and their transfer into new contexts 
  • Understand materials suppliers' business needs in the marketing of their material portfolio 
  • You are passionate about materials and digitisation 
  • You are a team player with a positive, collaborative and hands-on mentality 
  • You enjoy working cross-functionally across teams and departments 
  • Experienced in using technical software packages like CES Selector or Total Materia is a plus 
  • Have experience working with engineers in an agile environment 
  • You show a great deal of initiative, are well organised, decisive and results-oriented 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and German
